Big lime Tri race report.
750 ows , 20k bike, 5k run. Closed roads.
Not sure how long these reports are supposed to be? I’ll just type till I stop
.
Bit of background –
So I joined RTC last Xmas with the intention of entering a Tri . I needed to learn front crawl and I had a £100. budget to buy a road bike. I can already run
. I’ve been running and entering events for 10 years. But a triathlon that’s a different level.
I signed up in April still struggling with my front crawl.
I decided to go along to the pre swim course evening 3 days before the Tri. Well what a disater that was
. Ended up being taken back to slipway via safety kayak. Energy levels were zero, breathing was erratic, aniety had taken over.
Night before event – I prepped all my gear set alarm for 5am ready for a good night’s sleep. However my lovely brain wouldn’t switch off. Over and over and over thoughts of my horrendous pre swim and would it happen again ?
.
Race morning –
Up , ready, breakfast, on way to Hartlepool. I can do this
. Well organised , got my race pack , racked my bike, wet suit on. Atmosphere was great. My time to enter water. I can do this. We’re off conditions were great. I just want to get past the place where I got pulled out . I did
I continued with my old mate breaststroke ( sorry coaches). Exiting the water was fantastic
massive crowd support and encouragement.
Transition/bike route –
Bit of a blur tbh. I enjoyed the route, 4 laps, done.
Transition/run-
Jeez I’ve got this
. Run was more a slow jog , out and back along the prom. I can see the finish, again massive crowd support and encouragement. Great to see family, friends and RTC members waiting at the finish
. Done ![]()
